my true current emerges

I used to be profoundly disappointed while getting dressed. I’ve always loved color. As a teenager in the 80s, I put together fun outfits from second-hand shops. I was wearing military boots, pencil skirts I sewed thin, 60s jewelry, and my dad’s old t-shirts. But as an adult I was never satisfied when shopping or dressing. I admired beautiful things, color combinations, and quality. But I didn’t know how to bring fun pieces together into a wardrobe. I did not feel good in my clothes. I’m a designer… why was getting dressed such a downer? Since then, I’ve seen professional stylists who have helped me learn, and now getting dressed is fun again, like when I was a teenager.

In this blog I’ll share how to design a wardrobe that highlights your unique attractiveness, it can be any style you choose

I separate timeless knowledge from trends. Timeless knowledge in wardrobe is about the colors and shapes that look best on you, and how the eye takes it in. Design is often about where the eye goes. When you learn the basic rules of dressing, and how things look on you personally, it’s easy to create outfits.

Personalization is key. It’s not a wardrobe, it’s your wardrobe in your colors, shapes and themes. This is where the wardrobe services and apps I’ve seen so far fall short. They don’t know the client’s eye color, skin tone, shape or personality (don’t make me choose just one style!). A curated wardrobe that follows the trends, but doesn’t know your personal beauty, is a big missed opportunity. Each person’s attractiveness is unique, it’s something to highlight, not something to ignore.

At some point, I recommend you consult with a color specialist and stylist. If you’ve already done that, wonderful. I’m going to explain how to use the information a stylist would give you, to make a wardrobe. You can follow along for a while without this, but at some point you are really going to want your colors!

Is clothing only superficial? No, changing your wardrobe can boost your confidence, who doesn’t want that?

The deeper side of wardrobe design is knowing yourself, expressing your authenticity, practicing self-care, and bringing out your shining confidence. When you feel the confidence, people will respond to you differently. That matters when you are selling yourself in an interview, on stage, or in your creative field.

There is a current within us, looking for ways to express. Everything in your life can be designed to bring out your true current.

Yay, I’m so glad! This is the kind of info I want to give in this blog. What I’ve learned after seeing a stylist (or two) and really pushing everything I learned. I want everyone to know this stuff…
